BANANAS is now offering playgroups at Eastmont Library so you can bring your children to play and learn along the way!

At these free weekly playgroups designed for ages zero to five, we will engage in creative activities that inspire early learning. With a focus on serving the important workforce of family, friend, and neighbor caregivers as well as parents, the playgroups will offer a space to connect with one another and gain new ideas for learning through play.

Each event will include arts and crafts, music and movement, free play, circle time, storytelling, group activities, and a light snack. Playgroups are not only a wonderful opportunity to build community and bond with children, they also increase parenting skills, awareness of children’s needs, and child development and provide new ideas that can be replicated at home. Join us for the fun.

Give Mom something to smile about!

Join Home Depot’s hands-on workshop where you and your child can build a flower pot to hold spring flowers to keep or give to Mom. Once the project is complete, your child can paint their project to personalize it. All kids get to keep their project, receive a FREE certificate of achievement, a Workshop Apron, and a commemorative pin while supplies last.  Children must be present at the store to participate in the workshop and receive the kit, apron and pin.

On Saturday, May 6th, 2017, Play-Well TEKnologies will be collaborating with Reem's California Restaurant and families in the community to build the Oakland Fruitvale Neighborhood out of 40,000 LEGO® Bricks. Families will have the opportunity to create the Fruitvale neighborhood, as they would like to see it. The event is free to families. Families get to tackle these questions through play:
  • If you had the chance to design the Fruitvale, how would you design it?
  • What else would you add to the Fruitvale District that you currently think is missing?
  • How would you make the Fruitvale even better than it is now?
