Free Meals and Groceries Available for East Oakland Residents Facing Food Insecurity.

Individuals experiencing food insecurity can visit the East Oakland Collective’s (EOC) distribution hub for free, freshly prepared meals from local restaurants and a selection of groceries including produce, meat, and shelf-stable items. Onsite registration is required, and on a first come first served basis. Priority will be given to seniors, individuals with disabilities, and pregnant women.Spanish interpretation will be available.  

Date: Every Tuesday & Thursday

Time: 11AM - 1PM 

Cost: Free

The Oakland Parks, Recreation, and Youth Development Department is offering a free, year-long playgroup. 

Community Adventure Pre-K Playgroups is a free program for parents and caregivers with children ages 0-5, featuring arts and crafts, outdoor play, snacks, quarterly field trips, and other activities.

Afro-Play Oakland is an affinity-affirming space for families who identify as Black, African-American, or of the African Diaspora. Children and caregivers can enjoy Afro-centric activities in a warm and supportive environment, and donations are on a sliding scale, but no one is turned away for lack of funds.

The informative series hosted by a certified facilitator offers families a chance to learn how children grow and develop while creating a more supportive home environment. Class will be hosted in Spanish.
