Agency Name: A Better Way Inc.

Description: A Better Way’s PEI program is designed to provide early intervention support services to children and families in Alameda County through brief assessment and referral services, connection to local resources, mental health consultation, education, and training for families and community partners that interact with the early childhood system. Families in our program will work with a Mental Health Specialist and Family Partner who will assess for family-centered goals, screen children for developmental and mental health challenges, and refer and connect families to needed resources. Additionally, families will be offered parenting support and education through group classes (e.g., Circle of Security Parenting program), through topic-specific trainings (e.g., ADHD, trauma, co-parenting), and through peer-led support groups. The PEI program also works to strengthen the network of community partners providing early intervention and prevention services in Alameda County by developing a more robust referral network between programs and specialties in the early childhood field, and by offering training and consultation to programs interacting with young children and their families.

Integrated Kindergarten Wellness - Parent Support

Last Updated: January/20/2026

Agency Name: Oakland Natives Give Back

Description: The Integrated Kindergarten Wellness - Parent Support Program by ONGB, in affiliation with HFA, is a nationally recognized, evidence-based home visiting program that supports pregnant and parenting families—including pregnant and parenting teens—from the prenatal period through a child’s third birthday (and up to age five when needed). Through weekly home visits, dedicated case managers provide parenting education, developmental screenings, and hands-on support to strengthen parent–child relationships and promote healthy family dynamics. The program places a strong emphasis on supporting teen parents by reducing barriers to education and health, promoting school engagement, and addressing the unique challenges young parents face as they balance caregiving, school, and life transitions. HFA connects families to essential community resources addressing health, childcare, housing, transportation, and basic needs, while also providing baby essentials and developmental tools to reduce stress and increase stability. By addressing root causes that impact family well-being and school engagement, the HFA Program helps families build goals, and support positive outcomes for children and parents alike
